Dear Roland,

As we were waking up this morning daddy sent you a big loud good morning message. After that he rested his head on my stomach to "listen" to your reply. Instead of just tiny movement like usual in the mornings you kicked the hardest the you have ever kicked before and it hit him right in the jaw. I thought this was the funniest thing and could not stop laughing. We figure you must be a lot like him. He's not a morning person either.

Daddy "listening" to you.

Mommy

Dear Roland,

Last night when your daddy was holding my belly, feeling your every kick, he told me how much he can't wait for you to be here. He says he can't wait to play with you and wonders what you're going to look like. He says he thinks about you always. It was one of the sweetest things I've heard him say and it melted my heart. I too can't wait for you to get here. We love you so much.

You and me at 25 weeks!

Mommy

Dear Roland,
Today we went fishing with Aunt Christy and Grandma. We all had a lot of fun. Grandma caught the first fish, and with your good luck I caught the second. Aunt Christy didn't get one this time but she goes fishing a lot and has all sorts of pictures of her with her catches. Ask her about it one day and I'm sure she'll show you.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Roland,

Today we bought our first family car. I knew we were going car shopping so I made sure to put the "Baby On Board" sticker in my purse for good luck (and yes, I even rubbed it against my tummy first). Sure enough, a few hours later it was up in the rear window. In this car you will be brought home from the hospital. In this car you will have your first trips to the park, to the beach, to Grandma and Grandpa's house. In this car you'll go on many, many adventures. By the time you will be able to remember this car, it may not look as nice as it does now, so we'll save it in time with the cars very first picture.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Dear Roland,

Mommy just wants to thank you for being such a good little boy. I'm over the hump (as they say) now in this pregnancy and you have been such a gentle baby. I have hardly any symptoms. Yes, I threw up daily for the first 2 1/2 months but it went by quick and it was never a problem. Yes, I have minor back pains now and sometimes feel like my insides are tearing but it's been nothing worth complaining about. I've made it halfway through without any swollen limbs, without any heartburn, without any headaches, without any major mood-swings. There are no stretch-marks to be seen and you've been growing perfectly inside me. I hate to say it but maybe you're saving all the trouble for when you're actually out.. haha. Please keep being a good little boy.

Love,
Mommy

Here is you and me at 22 weeks!

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Dear Roland,

Today was such a great day! At around 20 weeks the doctors want to check in on you and make sure that you're growing properly, which also means that your Dad and I got to see you again today. We love that! For example, we got to count your little toes to make sure there were five on each foot. Great news! You have all ten fingers and all ten toes and you are growing just perfectly. The doctor said you are about 10 inches and when you gain one more ounce you will be a full pound. We got a couple pictures of you, one of them in particular made everyone laugh. You were glaring at us! We joked that you are the terminator baby. One day you'll understand what that means and you'll laugh too. You have been a part of me for 21 weeks today.

Love,
Mommy

There's your eye, and cute little nose!

An even closer look at you looking at us... Hehe.

That's your little foot! (Grandma thought you had four feet - she's silly!)

You were all curled up. I don't know how that could possibly be comfortable. Your knees are touching your nose!

Dear Roland,

I've been carrying you now for 20 weeks strait. You know what that means? It's great news! It means that in another 20 weeks I will get to hold you in my arms for the first time. I can't even imagine how great that moment will be. Daddy and I already love you so, so, so much. I hope these next 20 weeks go by so fast.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Roland,

By now you know how crazy your Aunt Christy is, and how much she loves you. She wanted to feel you move so bad so we tried all sorts of tricks to get you moving in there. I hope you didn't mind the temporary sugar over-load that happened this day... or our obnoxious laughter at how silly we looked lying on the floor at my work place. You have been a part of me for almost 20 weeks now.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Roland,

I went shopping today with Grandma and Aunt Christy. They keep telling me not to buy things in case I get them at our baby shower but it's so hard not to. I just want to make sure that we have everything your little heart desires - before you even know that your heart wants it! We ended up just window shopping mostly but I picked you out a few cute toys regardless. You're 18 weeks, 3 days old here.

Love,
Mommy

Grandma trying out some of the gliders.

Aunt Christy making funny faces on the gliders.

They sure are comfortable. This is a must-have-item for you and me!

We got to take advantage of 'Expectant Mother' parking. How fun!

Dear Roland,

Today you experienced your very first (and last) St. Patrick's Day celebration in the womb. Daddy and I walked down to our favorite place, The Field to watch Irish dancers and listen to live music. I'll admit, I was mostly going for the food. Your dad doesn't like cabbage, and I love it so it was my excuse to gorge on it all day long. Towards the end of the day you were dancing along to the music too. I love feeling you move.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Roland,

Your dad and I can hardly believe how quickly the time is going by. You've been a part of me now for 17 weeks. That means that this whole pregnancy is almost half way through. It seems like just yesterday that we wished you into existence. You're now the size of an onion. I can hardly believe that!

16 Weeks, 5 Days Heartbeat

Dear Roland,

Today when I went to the doctor for my monthly visit we got to hear your heartbeat again. I made sure to record it so that daddy could hear it later since he couldn't come along. Though I can't feel you moving inside of me yet, the doppler was able to hear it. It's nice to know you are enjoying your temporary home in there.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Roland,

It's only been two weeks since the last time I took our picture but you've been growing. At 14 weeks you're now the size of a large lemon. It amazes me and your dad so much how quickly you grow in there. We can't wait to see you!

Friday, February 17, 2012

Dear Roland,

Today you are the just the size of a lemon. It's the biggest you've ever been, and the smallest you're ever going to be. You've been a part of me for 14 weeks now. I hear you can even suck your thumb if you'd like to. How sweet is that? Today I went to the park with Grandma for lunch. We took some pictures and talked about you, as we do every day at lunch. We can't wait for you to grace us with your presence. It is going to be the best day ever. We hope you don't mind, but we've been calling your our "Peanut".

Love,
Mommy

Today you and I enjoyed some sweet and sour chicken with rice.
Grandma had a great idea to lay down on the benches after we finished eating.
Can you believe you're in that stomach? (We had a lot of laughs that Grandma couldn't focus the lens)
I wonder if you'll look more like me or daddy.

Dear Roland,

These pictures were taken when I had been pregnant with you for only 12 weeks, which equals three months. You were already starting to make yourself known by the tiny bump in my belly, and you were only the size of a little lime!
